APACHE COUNTY JAIL
ST JOHN’S JAIL INFORMATION
The Apache County Jail houses all prisoners from the Apache county courts as well as three city Police Departments. The Apache County jail may also houses inmates from the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Arizona Department of Corrections. Apache County has jurisdiction for all the Non-Native American population living on the Navajo Nation.
Apache County Jail Visitation
Onsite visitation must be scheduled 24 hours in advance
Visitation is available on Tuesdays and on Thursday through Sunday from 9 am to 11 am. There is no visitation on Monday or Wednesday The jail is in full lockdown everyday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, so there is no visitation during those hours. All onsite visitors will use the Video Visitation System located in the lobby of the jail
There are three ways to schedule a visit:
- You can stop into the lobby during business hours and schedule the visit on the visitation terminal.
- You can go online to Securustech.net.
- You can call 1-877-578-3658.
The Apache County Jail make every attempt to notify visitors ahead of time if a scheduled visit has been cancelled but you should call the jail before your visit to ensure that the Inmate is eligible for a visit that day.
Child Visitation
No more than one child may visit at a time along with an adult. No child under the age of 18 may visit without an adult. The adult must be either parent or guardian. If another adult accompanies the child, a notarized note by the parent or guardian allowing the adult to accompany the child will be required.
Religious Visits
Prior approval is required from the Apache County Jail Commander from religious organizations that may wish to visit with inmates. Religious visits shall not exceed 30 minutes per inmate. Visitation hours shall be at the
discretion of the Jail Commander. Religious visits can only be held with ordained clergy, volunteers from local churches or Prison Fellowship, who must provide identification confirming such information. The inmate must request a Religious visit, in writing, from the Jail Commander.
Attorney and Official Visits
Visits will be allowed with an Apache County inmate at any reasonable time during daytime and evening hours. Delays may occur if Detention staff is busy preparing inmates for court, serving meals or during lockdown, or any other unforeseen emergency.
Special visits
Special visits must be requested by the inmate in writing. Special visits can only be approved by the Jail Commander. Dates and times for special visits will be determined by detention staff after approval of
the Jail Commander.

contraband. There is no expectation of privacy from incoming mail except privileged mail. - Privileged mail will be opened and inspected for contraband in the presence of the inmate.
- Privileged mail is attorney of record, the Courts, Legal-Aid services and Adult Probation.

Initial Appearance
Initial appearances (IAs) are held at the Apache County Jail within 24 hours of a person’s arrest. Those arrested with misdemeanor charges may be bonded out prior to their IA. Those arrested on Felony charges are not bondable until their IA. Defendants typically appear before the Judge via video transmission.
